Privacy policy

Breakdown is run by Hardik Bamania. This page says what it collects, who else touches it, and how to get rid of it. It describes what the product actually does today, not what it might do later.

What Breakdown collects

• Your email address, from Google sign-in. Used to identify your account and to email you.
• What you give it: your Instagram handle, the writing samples you paste, the creators you choose to study, and anything you type into a board.
• What it makes for you: your voice profile, teardowns, scripts and boards.
• Usage and errors: which features are used and what broke, so the product can be fixed.
• Payment records: that a seat was bought, and which tier. Card details never reach Breakdown — the payment provider handles them.

Public Instagram data

Breakdown analyses public posts only, retrieved through established third-party data providers — the same information anyone sees while logged out. It does not log into Instagram on your behalf, does not ask for your Instagram password, does not use fake accounts, and cannot see private accounts, direct messages or anything behind a login.

If you are a creator whose public posts appear in Breakdown and you want them removed, email hello@breakdown.cc and I will remove them and the analysis derived from them.

Who else processes it

These are the services Breakdown runs on. Each sees only what its job needs:

• Supabase — database and sign-in.
• Vercel — hosting.
• Google (Gemini) — the AI that writes teardowns and scripts. Your writing samples and the public post being analysed are sent to it.
• Apify and Bright Data — retrieving public Instagram posts and images.
• Inngest — running background jobs.
• Resend — sending email.
• PostHog (usage) and Sentry (errors).
• Dodo Payments — payments.

Your content is not sold, and is not given to anyone outside this list.

Cookies

A cookie keeps you signed in. Analytics cookies record how the product is used. There is no advertising network and no ad tracking on this site.

How long it is kept, and how to delete it

Your data is kept while your account exists. There is no self-serve delete button yet — email hello@breakdown.cc and I will delete your account by hand, usually within a few days.

That removes your profile, voice profile, boards, teardown requests, scripts, briefs and feedback. One thing is deliberately kept: the record that a payment happened, detached from your account, because it is the only evidence a seat was ever sold and it is needed for tax and accounting. It holds no card details.

Your rights

You can ask what is held about you, ask for a copy, ask for corrections, or ask for deletion. Email hello@breakdown.cc. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under local law, and I will honour them.

Security, stated honestly

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by the providers above, and each account's work is isolated from every other account's. Breakdown is a one-person alpha, not an enterprise security programme — there is no third-party audit or certification, and I would rather tell you that than imply one. If you find a security problem, email hello@breakdown.cc and I will treat it as the most important thing in my inbox.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, anyone with an account gets an email and the date at the top changes.
